Source close to the Emir said the bandits stormed the Emir’s residence in the early hours of Sunday, around 12:00 am shooting sporadically.

Speaking further, the source added that, “the bandits whisked away 12 persons, including family members and aides of the Emir including women and children.”

Giving his own account, another source said “three women, two of the Emir’s grand children, three of his aides were among the people kidnapped”.

He recalled that “just a day before the incident, the Emir had summoned a security meeting; announcing a potential ploy to kidnap him but unfortunately no action was taken by the authorities to prevent the attack”.
