The United Kingdom on Wednesday deported 35 Nigerians for immigration-related offences.
The New Diplomat learnt the deportees, comprising 30 males and five females arrived Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos yesterday’s morning.
The deportation was confirmed by the spokesman for the Lagos Airport Police Command, DSP Joseph Alabi.
According to him, the deportees were received by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, the police and officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
He said they were profiled by immigration authorities and were each given a stipend to facilitate their return to their respective states.
The development brings the number of Nigerians deported from the UK to 99 in the last three months.
Recall, On February 1, 41 people were deported for various immigration offences while on March 31, another 23 people were deported for the same reason.
Several hundreds of Nigerians have also been deported, rescued or repatriated from various other countries including those in the West African region, in recent times.
