  • APC Reps Also Affected

By Tajudeen Balogun

As the political permutations toward 2027 heighten, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared the air that it has not handed over automatic tickets to its any of its serving Senators and members of the House of Representatives.

The APC which further clarified its stance on the raging issue of automatic tickets declared that it has neither mooted the idea nor given party automatic tickets to its senators including Senators Adams Oshiomhole (Edo State), former Senate President, Ahmad Lawan(Yobe State), Aliyu Wamako(Sokoto State), Orji Uzor Kalu(Abia state), Ali Ndume(Borno state) and other 103 Senators representing various Senatorial zones across the country

The party also noted that this declaration relates to all members of the National Assembly, including serving House of Representatives members ahead of 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the clarification in a press statement he signed on Tuesday.

Describing the report suggesting automatic tickets as “fake news”, the ruling party urged its members and the public to disregard what it described as a “purported Breaking News Report” falsely attributed to it.

“The report is FAKE NEWS and should be disregarded in its entirety as it did not emanate from our great Party,” Morka warned.

He further warned that the viral claim is of “mischievous origin” and calculated to mislead the public and disrupt internal party processes.

Morka reiterated that the clarification became necessary following unverified speculations about the party’s internal nomination strategies ahead of the next election cycle.

He stressed that the official party’s decisions would be communicated through verified channels.

Recall that a recent media report had suggested that a few members of NASS who are said to be worried about testing their popularity in their constituencies given their perceived poor representation had recently claimed to have gotten the APC’s nod to run again as automatic tickets holders.

“A very few of these NASS members failed woefully in terms of Representation with their constituents and they know they will never get a second chance hence they are peddling the lies that they have endorsement for automatic ticket. Its all lies. Mr President believes in democracy and wants we in NASS to go to our constituencies to test our acceptability”, said a serving Senator.
