The Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has mourned the demise of the Chief of Army Staff(COAS), Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, alongside other military officers who died in a plane crash on Friday.

The monarch described the death of the military officers as a bitter pill to swallow.

The New Diplomat had reported that Attahiru, alongside 10 other military officers were on board of an ill-fated military aircraft that crash landed at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday.

Reacting, Oba Ogunwusi, in a statement issued by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Moses Olafare, described the late military officers as patriotic individuals who laid their lives for their beloved country.

The Monarch also condole with the families of the departed military officers, praying that God will grant them the grace to bear the irreparable loss.

The statement reads, “It is really a bitter pill to swallow, particularly as they were caught by the cold hand of death while rendering patriotic services to their beloved country.

“On behalf of the entire House of Oduduwa worldwide, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, the military, and Nigerians in general over the departure of these heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security in Nigeria.

“I pray that they all find eternal peace in the bosom of their creator.”
