Mr Haruna Okatahi, Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Caucus, says that no governor or National Assembly member on the platform of APC will defect to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Okatahi expressed this optimism in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that the claim by some leaders of the opposition party, that PDP would assume the majority position in the National Assembly before the end of 2018 was just a daydream.

The youth leader said that APC as a party in power would continue to maintain its majority status in the legislative arm of government both at the Federal and state levels.

“I can categorically tell you that no governor elected on the platform of the APC will defect to PDP even as the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has left the party,

“ This is evident in what you heard from Gov. Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa state who happens to be Atiku’s political beneficiary,

“ He was on news yesterday telling the whole world that he would remain in the APC till death.

“ Whoever is thinking that the exit of Atiku from the ruling party will lead to defection of governors, senators and House of Representatives members is daydreaming,“ Okatahi said.

He, therefore, expressed confidence that the APC would remain the ruling party and continue in power in 2019 because of its achievements.

An aspirant for the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Mohammed Usman, said plans had been finalised for former PDP members in the National Assembly to return to the party by 2018.

Usman who said this in Abuja on Nov. 6, added that PDP members in the National Assembly who left the party before and after the 2015 general elections had been fully reached.
