Indications are becoming clearer that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has finally settled for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as consultations are ongoing with leaders of the party to allow for his switch-over.

Atiku had disclosed in his statement of resignation, made public on Friday, that he was yet to decide on his next political move.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that Atiku, who openly dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday, also met with executives of the PDP in his ward and engaged them in “fruitful deliberations” that same day.

On Saturday, a meeting of all state chairmen of the PDP in the six states of the North East was held with the National Vice Chairman, PDP North East, Ambassador Emmanuel Njiwah, in attendance.

Following a successful discussion, it was agreed at the meeting that a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party be held before the end of this week.

The meeting would be led by the leadership and other stakeholders from the North East to the national secretariat.

As part of the negotiations, some members of the PDP caucus of the National Assembly are expected to meet with Atiku this week.

Senator Ben Bruce Murray, it was learnt is expected to coordinate the team from the National Assembly to meet him, but the absence of Leo Ogor, Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, from the country might force the meeting to be postponed till a later date.

Meanwhile, the official resignation letter submitted by Atiku to the APC at his ward in Adamawa State showed clearly that he had resigned from the party more than a month ago, precisely on October 18.

The letter personally signed by him was addressed to the ward chairman of the party in Adamawa and was received same day by one Usman Mu’azu.
