Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has said the emerging opposition coalition is confused for touting Atiku-Obi joint presidential ticket as its strategy to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Olayinka maintained that it’s a move symptomatic of confusion if the vaunted might of the coalition lies in fielding former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi as President and Vice-President respectively.

“Confused Coalition: Atiku as presidential candidate. Any Obi (even if na Obioma or Obiageli) as running mate. Issorite.” Olayinka wrote on his X account on Saturday while taunting the coalition.

Recall that Atiku, Obi, former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai among others are spearheading the formation of the opposition coalition.

On Tuesday night, the trio alongside other stakeholders of the coalition met to take far reaching decisions.

El-Rufai boasted about this development on Wednesday, while addressing audience at the second edition of Arewa Tech Fest held in Katsina, saying the coalition will send Tinubu back to Lagos State in 2027.

In the meantime, there are indications that the coalition is shopping for a political party to adopt.

Currently the coalition is torn between adopting either the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) or the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as its platform’s name.
