Atalanta Slovenian striker Josip Ilicic is reportedly considering retirement from football due to depression, after he caught his wife red handed in bed with another man.

Ilicic, 32, is said to have thought of surprising his wife in his native Slovania, which he did, only to discover her in bed with another man.

According to reports from Italy, Ilicic is now thinking of hanging his boots due to depression emanating from the scandal.

Also he is also set to miss Atlanta’s Champions League quarter-finals against PSG.

Ilicic met his wife Tina Polovina in 2009 and soon enough got married to her, they have two daughters Sofia and Victoria, rumours have it that the “little heart ” celebration the striker does after every goal is a dedication to his wife, Tina.

Speaking after their Serie A match, Atalanta manager Gasperini told Newsmen in Italy: “We’re getting closer to the day [of the PSG game]. With each passing day, it is more difficult for us to have Ilicic back. It would be very difficult for him to be with us in Lisbon.”

Ilicic has had a good season for Atalanta, scoring 15 goals in the just-ended campaign.

He helped Atalanta finish third in the league which earned them a place in next season’s Champions League.
