The National Labour Congress(NLC) has threatened to organise another nationwide protest if the Federal Government fails to resolve all issues with Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

This time, the union threatened to organise another three-day protest if there is no postive development in the nation’s public universities, with the lecturers’ demands met.

The NLC announced a two-day nationwide protest in solidarity with the striking ASUU.

It was learnt that no fewer than 40 unions, including the aviation workers participated in the rally called in solidarity with the striking ASUU lecturers who had shut down public universities since February 14 over the failure of the government to meet their demands.

With the protest coming to an end today, July 27, NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, while speaking during an interview with Channels Television, said the protest may linger if the government fails to act promptly.

“The protest first is to show our concern and to also call for urgent action to resolve the issues. We took two levels of decision.

“First is the national protest to call for attention and for the issues to be resolved promptly, and the next level is three days national warning strike if nothing has happened after the protest to show our grievances,” Wabba said.
