The assets recovery committee instituted by the Benue State Government has raided the automobile workshop of the immediate past Governor of the State Samuel Ortom towing away about 30 vehicles.

Reacting through his media aide, the former Governor says the act which smacks of lawlessness is a part of a plot by the current government to torment, persecute and humiliate the former Governor using every unconventional means.

The automobile workshop located along Makurdi Otukpo road within Makurdi, Benue State’s administrative capital was the venue for the latest sting operation of the assets recovery committee instituted by the State Government.

It is owned by the immediate past Governor of the State Samuel Ortom.

About 30 vehicles which the committee claimed belonged to government were then forcefully opened and towed away from the premises.

A move seen by media aide to the former Governor as the height of illegality.

Also, the People’s democratic party in a statement by its state publicity secretary Bemgba Iortyom described the committee’s outing as shameful, a show of naked tyranny and impunity. AIT
