Some unidentified armed men, on Monday invaded the Nnewi Police Area Command in Anambra State.

The armed men who came in about seven vehicles shot sporadically into the air in a bid to scare away people from their target point.

It was gathered that the armed men overpowered the police officers who were on duty during the attack and made away with several sophisticated weapons belonging to the police facility.

An eyewitness who spoke with the members of the press said that tension escalated along Okigwe Road in Umudim, Nnewi, Anambra as the armed men who came into the town announced their arrival by shooting sporadically into the air.

The eyewitness further added that the attack lasted for about one hour adding that by the time reinforcement from the combined team of military arrived, the attackers had left.
