In a tragic turn of events, unknown gunmen stormed a church service and abducted Joan Mrakpor, a former member of the House of Representatives for Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State Tuesday, triggering concerns across. Asaba axis.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident to journalists, revealing that a police officer, who was Mrakpor’s orderly, was killed during the attack.

The New Diplomat reports that Mrakpor, former Commissioner for Technical Education in the state, was abducted from her church near Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS Asaba.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. amidst heavy gunfire.

During the attack, Mrakpor’s driver was also shot and immediately lost consciousness.

Edafe assured the public that the police has commenced full investigation and expressed confidence that the kidnappers will be apprehended soon.

“We are on the trail of the kidnappers and very soon, I believe we will get them,” he said.
