Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter, an American songwriter and singer, made history on Sunday by becoming the winningest woman and the most winning singer (male or female), in the 63-year history of the Grammy Awards.

Beyoncé earned her 28th Grammy with a win for her R&B performance of ‘Black Parade’, surpassing Alison Krause, a country-bluegrass artist who has 27 grammys.

Beyoncé is now tied with Quincy Jones, for the second-most grammy wins ever, behind the late Georg Solti, a Hungarian-British Conductor, who is currently holding the record of most grammy wins with 31 awards.

Reacting, the award winning superstar appreciated everyone for supporting her music career.

In her words: “I am so honored, I’m so excited. Thank you. As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect our times. So I wanted to uplift, encourage, celebrate all of the beautiful Black Queens and Kings that continue to inspire me and inspire the world. It is such a magical night, thank you so much.”
