The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that it has zoned its presidential ticket to the southern part of Nigeria.
The Caretaker Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, who addressed a press conference on Wednesday refuted the media reports, describing it as false and the handiwork of mischief makers.
Reports had emerged that the Buni-led caretaker committee had zoned the President’s position to the South, Vice President to the North, Senate President to the South and Deputy Senate President to the North.
Reacting, Buni described the report as mere fabrication aimed at misleading the public.
In his words, “This is absolutely false! Where was it done and at what occasion? This is a mere fabrication of the writer’s imagination. It is completely misleading.”
The zoning of the 2023 Presidency to the South has been headlining political discourse in recent times since the 17 southern Governors declared that the country’s next president must come from the South.
The southern governors had called for a rotational presidency, saying it is aimed at giving every part of the country a sense of belonging.
