…Applauds State Congress As Successful

The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, OlorogunO’tegaEmerhor has debunked rumours making the round that the party’s state executive was factionalized.

Emerhor who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in his country home, Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area, shortly after casting his vote at the Saturday ward congress, pointed out that party members across the state know that there is one party executive and therefore there it could not have been factionalized.

According to him, rather than a factionalized exco, what exists in the party were divided tendencies among interest groups, which he described as the Ogboru-Omo-Agege tendency and his (Emerhor’s) tendency, adding that it was normal politically.

Said he: “Well, let me say that there can’t be a faction when we all know that there is one executive in the state.  What I can tell you is that there are two tendencies in the party and these two tendencies are trying to compete to see who is stronger or who is more on ground using this congress.

“I can mention them to you.  The tendency of Ogboru and OvieOmo-Agege and the Light of APC that joined the party and my tendency which is an aggregation of about six governorship aspirants and other leaders of the party who have come together to work out the unity list of aspirants that we want to support.

“So, these are the two possible interest groups that are in the party and this is very normal. This is why it is called a congress.”

Meanwhile, the APC leader has applauded the conduct of the party’s ward congress in Delta State, noting that compared to what transpired in some other states, the exercise was peaceful and successful in the state.

He noted that although there was slight delay in the arrival of voting materials to various wards in Delta Central where he is based, the exercise started well and there were no hitches members cast their votes in different wards.

Commenting on the alleged stealing of sensitive voting materials in Asaba, Emerhor noted that the incident of the stealing of sensitive materials in Asabacould not affect the conduct of the exercise across the state.

Meanwhile, OlorogunO’tegaEmerhor and other members of the party in the area, cast their votes at the Evwreni ward party secretariat at about 2.00 pm without a hitch.
