The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has announced the suspension of the governorship election in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, over cases of irregularities.

The announcement was made during collation on Sunday by the collation officer for Ihiala LGA.

The election has now been scheduled to hold on November 13.

Explaining the decison, Umar noted that election didn’t hold in the local government, adding that there were 148,407 registered voters.

Reports had emerged on Saturday that some political thugs attacked some election officials in some polling units in the local government.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C Don Adinuba, in his reaction had alleged that a politician in the area and his group had tried to rig the election.
