The People Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has laughed off the purported suspension of its Caretaker Committee by an unknown and self serving group of persons who it said have no bearing on the fortunes of the party in the state.

The Caretaker Committee of PDP in the state had, in an earlier press statement, which was widely published, alerted the nation, and especially PDP faithful in Anambra state, of the desperate attempt by some persons masquerading as party members to cause disaffection and throw spanner in the works, in the dedicated and focused march of our great party to Government House Awka.

A statement issued in Awka and signed by Secretary of the Committee, Iyom Josephine Anenih, dismissed the purported suspension as a ruse and handiwork of known desperadoes.

“We are not surprised at the turn of events. We have always known that some desperadoes were at work. We have also, always known that some persons who have always lived with a sense of deep entitlement are behind the group.

“We are aware that the group, unserious as they are, is a tool in the hands of the ruling party in Anambra state, which is scared of the renewed vigour in PDP, which has carefully cleaned its stable and rescued that party from the hands of the desperate who are always willing to trade the party to the highest bidder.

“It is on record that the Caretaker Committee of our great Party ably led by Prof. ABC Nwosu and Iyom Josephine Anenih, have spared no effort in redirecting and re-positioning the party in Anambra state.

“For the effort of the Caretaker Committee, our parry went through a primary election that has been adjudged as the best so far in the history of the party in Anambra state.

“Those who are angry and working to derail the party at this time have proven that the poor fortunes of Anambra PDP, in the past, have always been to their selfish benefits.

“This time around, Anambra PDP is focused and resilient. It won’t allow desperate folks derail its vision and mission to Government House Awka. The era of trading people’s hopes, aspirations and democratic rights for porridge is over, and for good. Anambra PDP in on a roll and the desperate few cannot bring it back to the past.

“We therefore call on our teaming supporters in Anambra and beyond, to ignore the desperation of a few political traders. Remember we alerted you earlier. We have always known them. We shall remain resolute in changing the narrative on Anambra PDP.

“Be assured that your leaders in the Caretaker Committee have made sacrifices to get the party to the point that it has become a threat to some persons. We shall make more sacrifices to ensure we deliver on our vision.
