Dr. Andy Uba, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election, has accused the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the election, Professor Charles Soludo of being an ingrate.
He claimed that he made Soludo, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) through his recommendation to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Professor Soludo served as CBN governor during the administration of former President Obasanjo. While Uba was an aide to Obasanjo at the time, he is also an in-law of the former president.
Uba revealed this while speaking during a gubernatorial debate organised by Arise TV in conjunction with Enough is Enough on Monday, noting that Obasanjo made it clear that he was the reason for Soludo’s appointment.
“When he (Soludo) became the CBN Governor, he came to my house to say thank you. Also, when five Igwes [traditional rulers] came to thank the President after the appointment, he [Obasanjo] told them to go thank me instead.” Uba said.
However, Soludo refuted being recommended to Obasanjo by Uba. He explained that he never knew Andy Uba until former Minister of Education, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, introduced APC candidate to him at the Presidential villa.
