The National President, Messengers of Peace, an NGO, Mr Suleiman Adejo, on Wednesday advised stakeholders in the Anambra election to adopt peaceful processes in resolving all grievances.

Adejo, who gave the advice at a news conference in Abuja, was speaking on the group’s preparedness to confer peace awards on 40 Nigerians.
He said the best option to tackle the challenge of insecurity and violence in the region was to embrace peace and avoid losses.

Adejo said that the major players in the Anambra gubernatorial election should employ peace and tact in addressing all issues, to ensure a stable state before, during and after the election.

“As long as we are human beings, there is no way disagreements will not arise. What is however, important is our ability to resolve such conflicts in the best way possible.

“What we are doing is to ensure that when people are aggrieved and are complaining, we are able to bring them to a table and resolve the issues amicably.

“Anambra is sensitive to Nigeria because of its power of trade, especially the distribution of products to other parts of Nigeria.

“I call on all the players in this election to avoid issues that will lead to break of law and order. If anything happens to Anambra, it is going to translate to other parts of Nigeria,” he noted.

Adejo urged all Nigerians to key into the group’s vision and several other initiatives that would promote peaceful co-existence in the country.
He disclosed that the group had chosen some notable Nigerians to confer them with awards because of their contribution to ensuring peace in their domain.

Adejo listed the awardees to include: Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta, Aminu Masari, governor of Katsina State, Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno, and Minister of State, FCT, Mrs Ramatu Aliyu, among others.

He said the recognition was aimed at encouraging leaders promoting peace in various ways to do more, and for others to emulate them.
“Nigeria must lend her voice to the call for peace, and the voices of peace promoters are to be louder than those promoting violence, that is the only way we can achieve lasting Peace in Nigeria,” he stated.

According to him, in order to spread the message of peace nationwide, the Messengers of Peace is partnering with ALGON to distribute its customised vehicle plate numbers to all the Local Government Area (LGA) chairmen, vice chairmen and some royal fathers.
“The peace plate number shall be unveiled officially at this year’s National Peace Awards by the Keynote speaker, Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” Adejoh said. (NAN)
