Prof. Charles Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has widened his lead against rivals in the Anambra governorship election as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner in four of the five local government areas (LGAs) recently announced.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now maintaining the lead he earlier established on the results chart.

As of press time, results from 11 local governments have been announced and formally accepted at the INEC state collation centre in Awka.

Among the four local governments won by Soludo is Aguata LGA, where three major candidates in the election all hail from. Soludo polled 9,136 votes in Aguata to defeat his other contenders.

Soludo has so far defeated his biggest rivals; Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Andy Uba of the All Progressive Congress in 10 of the total 11 local government areas declared by INEC.

Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) won in Nnewi North LGA. Ubah polled 6,485 votes to beat the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, which polled 3,369.
