Governorship candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has described the Bimodal Verification Accreditation (BVA) system as a complete failure in the ongoing guber election in the state.

Soludo, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), lamented the failure of the BVAS in his polling unit, leading to delay in the voting process.

Earlier, the New Diplomat had reported that (BVAS) deployed to polling unit 002, Ward 13 located im Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area failed to function in the early hours of Saturday.

Similarly, voters in Enugwu-Agidi Ward 1; polling unit 001 and polling unit 002 in Njikoka L.G.A have also lamented the failure of card reader machines.

The system failure also affected Soludo who wasn’t able to cast his vote.

Lamenting the situation, Soludo called out to Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that the voting process is successful.

In his words, “This BVA technology is a complete failure, and by almost 1.p.m. in the day, voting is yet to start in most of the polling units in the state.

“And in places where it is working, it takes about 20 to 30 minutes to capture a voter. With this crowd, even if the device starts working now, it is not possible to finish up within record time.

“It raises fundamental questions because I’m quite shock to hear that this technology breakdown is happening all over the state.

“May be we will still be optimistic that the challenge will be fixed. I have been here for over 20 minutes, yet no way”

This is also coming after the flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Valentine Ozigbo, who casted his vote at Amesi, Aguata, LGA had appealed to INEC extend the voting to allow eligible voters affected by the system failure perform their civic duty.
