A High Court sitting at Maitama in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  has  directed senator Elisha Abbo from Adamawa State, to pay N50 million as compensation to Osimibibra Warmate, the designated lady the Senator allegedly assaulted in 2019.

Mr Nelson Onuoha, a Lawyer and a member of the team of litigation Attorneys that filed the  suit against the lawmaker revealed this on Monday. Similarly,  Mr Abel Ozioko, a counsel to the senator who  also confirmed the order said the matter is being addressed.Senator Elisha Abbo

Recall that a Nigerian based digital newspaper, Premium Times had last year blew the lid open about how the Adamawa born Legislator was  photographed on camera reportedly yelling  at  a woman a the FCT.

The video which subsequently went viral online  depicted  Senator Elisha Abbo personally manhandling  the said  Warmate, accusing her of being rude to him as she allegedly dubbed him “ a drunk.”

Recall also that Senator  Abbo who demonstrated remorse for his action  later tendered an apology publicly. The Senator later gave himself up to the Police where he was granted bail after being held overnight  at a Police station in Abuja. Thereafter, Senator Abbo was made to appear before the Chief Magistrate court at Zuba in FCT and charged with two-count charges bordering on assault, among other.

The presiding Magistrate nonetheless dismissed the allegations as baseless and without facts to back the charges. But delivering a judgment Monday on the pending subject matter, Justice Samira Bature of the High Court Abuja ordered Senator Abbo to pay the sum of N50m to the plaintiff as compensation. The Senator’s counsel, Mr Ozioko however disclosed that his client would appeal the judgment accordingly.
