The on-going reconciliation efforts in the All Progressive Congress (APC) seem to have yielded another positive gain as Minister of Transport, Mr Rotimi Amaechi and his colleague, Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva,
might have resolved to end their age-long political differences.
This development is coming on the heels of moves by the Buni led APC to fortify APC’ s strength in various states across the country.

It would be recalled that in Bayelsa state, APC appears quite formidable having won one senatorial seat, two House of Representatives and some House of Assembly seats.
Chief Sylva who is the APC leader in Bayelsa state and serving Minister of State for Petroleum Resources led the party to a historic landslide governorship victory earlier this year with David Lyon as governorship candidate. But that victory was however cut short as Lyon’s election was nullified at the Supreme Court.
However, in the case of Rivers State, the state chapter of the party was unable to win any single seats in the various elections including National Assembly and State House of Assembly.

Analysts believe that with Wike in charge as governor of Rivers state, it would be a hard knot to untie for APC to gain any reasonable leverage in the politics of Rivers state. Worse still, some of Amaechi’s known strong loyalists including Chidi Lylod recently decamped to the PDP to join forces with Wike in the ongoing battle for the soul of Rivers state.
Amaechi and Sylva who were once governors of their states, disclosed this peace move to newsmen on Monday, after a closed door meeting with Mallam Mai Mala Buni, Chairman, Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
The meeting was said to have lasted for almost an hour.
Speaking with newsmen after the closed door meeting, Ameachi, accompanied by Sylva, said: “We have agreed that both of us will work together.”
