The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed that he would resign on Monday (Today) to enable him to pursue his presidential ambition under the platform of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 elections.

Amaechi made this disclosure on Sunday in Kaduna when he solicited the support of the state delegates ahead of the APC presidential primary election.

The Minister also expressed deep pain over the train incident that took place on the 28th of March, which according to him would have been averted if the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved the surveillance contract he requested to monitor the rail track.

Recall that President Buhari had directed all serving ministers, heads of government agencies, departments, parastatals; ambassadors and other political appointees with political ambitions for the forthcoming 2023 general elections to resign from their respective positions on or before Monday, May 16, 2022.

After the directive was issued, some Minister resigned their appointments to concentrate on their political ambition while the likes of Abubakar Malami, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, and Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige withdrew their aspirations to remain in their jobs, however, the position of Amaechi was hitherto unknown until he made the clarification on what he intended to do.
