One time governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim has been  arraigned by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu , before an FCT High Court sitting at Maitama, for alleged name dropping and peddling of false information against one Chinyere Amuchienwa.

The police in its statement alleged that the former Imo State governor, Ohakim  gave out wrong information, and also told misleading stories about one Chinyere Amuchienwa to the effect that she purportedly threatened him with a gun.

According to Channels TV news report, Ohakim  who served as an elected governor of Imo State from 2007 to 2011 also made a false claims that he had a plot of land for sale in Lagos State while allegedly dropping the name of Raji Fashola.

Channels reports that Ohakim was alleged to have unlawfully used “the name of Raji Fashola as the owner of the purported land situated at Ikeja, Lagos State”.

However, Ohakim’s counsel, Mr Ken Njemanze however pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge that was read to him before the trial judge, Justice Samira Bature.

Justice Bature  who granted the erstwhile Imo State governor  bail in the sum of N10million with one surety in like sum directed that the surety must be a reputable person in the society with a verifiable address within the Federal Capital Territory.

According to Justice Bature, the bail could be revoked without any notice if the defendant is found wanting in terms of attempting  interfere with prosecution witnesses or obstruct its process.
