The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently grilling a former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS),Mr Babatunde Fowler, over an alleged N5bn fraud perpetrated under his watch.FIRS and EFCC

The New Diplomat’s checks revealed  that Fowler who was invited by the anti-graft agency honoured the invitation at the Ikoyi, Lagos office of the EFCC.

The immediate past FIRS chairman, Fowler is presently  being quizzed by a team of detectives  at the Lagos office of the EFCC.

The New Diplomat’s checks reveal that the subject matter upon which Mr Fowler is being grilled have to do with alleged issues relating to Alpha Beta, a consulting said to be linked to a former Lagos state governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Sources say the sums or amount in question ranges from N5Billion to about N100 billion. Checks indicate that the anti-graft agency is investigation a petition submitted to it over allegations of tax evasion, diversion of government revenue, and alleged stripping of Lagos state through the said Alpha Beta consulting firm.

Fowler reportedly served as Executive Chairman of the Lagos state Revenue Service, the agency responsible Lagos state revenue at the time.
