The operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have reportedly arrested a former Commissioner of Finance in Kaduna State, Shizser Joy Nasara Bada.

Bada, who served as finance commissioner under the administration of the immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, was said to have been arrested at the Lagos Airport.

According to reports emerging on Tuesday, the former commissioner was reportedly travelling out of the country when ICPC operatives arrested her at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

While the real reason for the arrest remains sketchy as of press time, inside sources believe the arrest came as part of a strategic crackdown on officials who served under El-Rufai’s administration, with multiple figures now under scrutiny for their various roles in the alleged financial mismanagement of the state.

According to checks, the former Commissioner is expected to provide more insights into ongoing allegations of corruption and mismanagement of government funds.

It would be recalled that the El-Rufai administration has been allegedly indicted by the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

The state’s House of Assembly, in a report, had accused the administration of El-Rufai of allegedly inappropriately spending about N423 billion from the Kaduna state treasury.

However, El-Rufai has continued to deny all the allegations describing them as false.

Subsequently, the former governor initiated a legal action against the Kaduna State House of Assembly following its claim that his administration misappropriated N432 billion during his eight-year tenure, resulting in significant state debt.
