The Global Patriot Newspaper (GPNEWS), a media organisation based in the United States (US), is set to host an international conference aimed at addressing issues relating to the nationalism and patriotism of Nigerians.

GPNEWS will be collaborating with the New Jersey Chapter of Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) to organise the conference.

According to the organizer, the event is scheduled to hold on March 6, at 4p.m. West African Time(WAT), adding that the conference will address issues relating to patriotism, national development, constitutionality, governance, security, politics, human rights and justice, among others in Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement released by Simon Ibe, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of GPNEWS and Kazeem Bello, President, NIDO New Jersey.

The statement also revealed that the conference would feature eminent individuals such as top government officials, renowned academics, and pro-democracy and human rights activists.

The organisers also stated that the login details of the virtual conference would be released soon.

The statement reads, “The event is an attempt to question the root causes of lack of patriotic fervour among many Nigerians and what should be done to reverse the trend. There will be questions as to why some are not proud of their motherland, will not buy locally-made products and are ever ready to badmouth their country. Focus will be on the need for love for country in the conduct of government business and interactions between individuals and entities in the polity.”
