Akwa United Football Club at the Nest of Champions Uyo unveiled 5 new players to boost the club’s performance in the Nigerian professional football league
Akwa United who currently sits in the 5th position on the table recruited the five players to strengthen their mission of winning the league and FA cup.
Coach Abdul Maikaba said the club is looking forward to finishing first or second on the national table.
Chairman of the club Mr Paul Bassey said the need for the mid-season purchase was strongly recommended to replace injured players and to fill the void left by the absence of some Akwa United players like Kufre Ebong and Ubong Friday.
The new players included 3 strikers Edem Akakatang (Army Koy- Cyprus), Gabriel Okechukwu(Super Eagles CHAN 2016, Harmony Ikande(Aris Limassol FC – Cyprus). 1 midfielder Christopher Lolo (Katsina United ) and goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke(Sunshine Stars)
Present at the newly improved pitch scheduled to host South Africa in June, were Permanent Sec Youth and Sports Coach Aniedi Dickson, former Akwa United chairman Isong Isang, Management team of Akwa United, SWAN and supporters of Akwa United FC.
