“I remember watching on TV when Plateau United was given the league Cup and 5 million naira I felt very bad. I said that should have been Akwa United. Little did I know that we serve a living God, His word is yea and Amen; little did I know if God say it will happen, it happens. It may tarry but one day it may come to pass. If you are one of those who envied Plateau United 5million in the AITEO Cup we won 25million naira and we won in the glare of publicity, we won best coach, best goal keeper, highest scorer, the only thing we did not win was best chairman (in the league).” Paul Bassey said while celebrating the team’s achievements.
Akwa United first match for the 2017/2018 NPFL is on 14th of January against visiting Rangers of Enugu and Paul Bassey declared it a must win. Â The club is determined to make 9 points from the first 3 matches.
