Mrs Unoma Ekaette Akpabio, the wife of the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has initiated legal actions against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District of Kogi State at the Senate, over accusations of defamation.

Mrs Akpabio is seeking a hefty N250 billion in damages, claiming defamation and violation of her fundamental rights.

The New Diplomat reports that the legal showdown stems from some explosive allegations Natasha made on national television, specifically on Arise TV, where she claimed that the Akpabio made sexual advances toward her.

It was gathered that Mrs Akpabio filed her fundamental rights suit at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja, arguing that Natasha’s statements were “scandalous and salacious” and inflicted emotional and psychological distress on her and her children.

She’s asking for N250 billion in damages and a court order to stop Natasha from making further statements she deems harmful.

She also demanded a public apology in two major newspapers—The Guardian and ThisDay—plus another N1 billion in punitive damages.
