Former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande alongside, former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba are set to host a meeting involving all presidential aspirants who hailed from the South West region of Nigeria.
The meeting, it was gathered will involve a former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who have all declared their interest to contest for the presidency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Also expected to be in the meeting are; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila; APC governors in the zone, and Deputy Senate Leader, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, among other leaders of the party in the region.
A source knowledgeable about the meeting said the venue was fixed for the Lagos State Government House, Marina.
Speaking on the agenda of the meeting, the source hinted that Akande and Osoba are concerned about the increasing number of aspirants emerging from the Southwest.
This, according to the source prompted the two APC chieftains to summon all the Southwestern presidential aspirants in a bid to put its house together and position the region in the right direction that will ensure victory in the 2023 election.
The source who also disclosed that a consensus arrangement might be discussed during the meeting noted that Akande and Osoba are treading carefully not to impose any decision on any individual.
The source said the two APC chieftains are only interested in securing victory for the South-West region in the APC primary election and the 2023 General Election.
