The aspiration of Senator Rabiu Kwanwaso to succeed Buhari Muhammadu has received a boost after a presidential aspirant on the same platform of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi threw his weight behind him.

While expressing his desire to become Kwankwaso’s running mate ahead of the presidential election, Ajadi noted that he withdrew from the race to support Kwankwaso, adding that the former governor of Kano State has what it takes to lift Nigeria from its current state.

Ajadi made the disclosure on Thursday in Abeokuta during an interactive session with pressmen.

He said: “Ladies and gentlemen, I Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, having considered many things, and in the interest of our great party and beloved country, today, relinquish my presidential ambition, to support the presidential candidacy of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.

“Senator Kwankwanso is a great Nigerian, an accomplished politician and administrator who will lift this country.”

“Nigeria is a country that God himself has blessed, but look around you today, you will agree with me that things are not working well.

“There is insecurity in the country, despite the fact that there is an elected government, with the police, the Army, the Navy and the Air force

“Our children finish school and there are no jobs. Is it a wonder that there is crime everywhere? Roads are in terrible condition. There is no public water supply, no electricity and all the necessities of life. But we have a government. We have billions of Naira in cash and assets. I now ask, what is the missing link?

“Distinguished Nigerians, the missing link is selfless.’’

The NNPP is viewed as the party spearheading the third force movement ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The New Diplomat recalls that there had been a gale of defections into NNPP in Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna and other parts of the country.

Ten PDP lawmakers and three APC lawmakers in Kano had recently defected to the NNPP while the deputy speaker, Kano State House of Assembly, Zubairu Massu, also on Friday, defected from the APC to NNPP, alongside some other former lawmakers.

Similarly, The New Diplomat reported earlier that a presidential aspirant Peter Obi who dumped PDP on Wednesday is considering joining NNPP.
