Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed joy over the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s triumph in the just-concluded Edo State governorship election.
The governor, who served as the Chairman of the APC Election Planning and Strategy Committee, congratulated Senator Monday Okpebholo and his running mate, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, for emerging as the governor-elect and deputy governor-elect, respectively.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, Aiyedatiwa hailed the people of Edo State for choosing APC and entrusting the state’s governance and leadership in the hands of the party.
He highlighted the significance of the victory, stressing that it has brought Edo state back into what he termed the “progressives fold.”
Aiyedatiwa stated: “I want to congratulate our party, the APC, Senator Okpebholo, and Hon. Idahosa on the well-deserved victory in the just concluded governorship election in Edo State. I join millions of our party faithful to give glory to God for granting us a peaceful victory to reclaim Edo back into the fold of the progressives where it rightly belongs.”
The Ondo Governor also extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership,
He said: “I thank Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for providing the exemplary leadership that guaranteed a free, fair, and peaceful election in Edo. I also congratulate him on the success of the party in the contest.”
Aiyedatiwa also lauded the efforts of the APC’s leadership under National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje and acknowledged the efforts of the party’s campaign committees at both the national and state levels.
It would be recalled that the governorship election in Edo State was held on Saturday, with APC emerging victorious.
Aiyedatiwa concluded by expressing confidence in Okpebholo’s vision for Edo,
saying: “I am confident that under the leadership of Senator Okpebholo, Edo will witness the implementation of progressive policies and programmes that will positively impact the lives of the people.”
