From Segun Amure, (The New Diplomat’s Abuja Bureau)

Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, reportedly returned to Nigeria, Thursday after her six-month stay in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Recall that the First Lady reportedly made her last known public appearance in September 2020 during the wedding of her daughter, Hanan.

She has since withdrawn herself from any public engagement as Aisha has not been sighted publicly since then.

In December 2020, SaharaReporters had reported that the First Lady relocated to Dubai, citing security concerns as one of her reasons for moving out from the Presidential Villa.

The publication also said Mrs Buhari was ”just relaxing and spending time on shopping” in the Arabian country.

Similarly, it was reported that Aisha Buhari’s reason for leaving was not unconnected to domestic concerns at the Villa.

Though her return has been widely reported, Spokesperson to the First Lady, Aliyu Abdullahi reportedly said: “I am not aware of this,” as he simply refused to either confirm or deny the reports of her return to the country.
