The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna today graduated 249 students in various aerospace engineering and related fields at its 46th Convocation Ceremony. The graduation ceremony, which held in the Institute’s recently commissioned Ibrahim Alfa Auditorium, witnessed the conferment of diplomas and presentation of certificates to graduating students from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force and civilians. In all, there were 11, 109 and 129 Post Graduate Diploma, Higher National Diploma and National Diploma graduands respectively, out of which 122 were civilians.

Speaking at the convocation ceremony, the Guest of Honour, the Honourable Minister of Transportation, Right Honourable Chibueke Rotimi Amaechi acknowledged the place of AFIT as a trailblazer in West Africa. He recalled, with satisfaction, the feat achieved by the Institute in locally designing and manufacturing an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which was successfully test flown, a first in West Africa, among other achievements. He also congratulated the graduating students, urging them to be worthy ambassadors of AFIT for the benefit of Nigeria. In addition, he reserved special praises for the various award winners and requested them to live up to expectation in their future endeavours. Furthermore, Right Honourable Amaechi praised the visionary and sterling leadership qualities of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, whose tenure in office has witnessed a lot of infrastructural and academic developments in AFIT.
