President of the 9th Senate, His Excellency, Senator Ahmad Lawan, on Saturday, paid a courtesy visit to two former Heads of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna, Niger State.

Shortly after his arrival at Minna Airport, Senator Lawan first met with Abdulsalami Abubakar who recently returned from a medical trip abroad, after which he proceeded to Ibrahim Babangida’s residence also on a private visit.

Before his departure from Abubakar’s residence, Lawan who spoke to waiting journalists said: “We are here to sympathise with our father, the former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

“You will recall that he just returned from a medical trip in Britain and as our leader and an elder statesman in this country, we felt that it was necessary that we make this visit today, to come and sympathise with him and his family.

“And we are very grateful to Almighty Allah for his mercies. Our father is recovering, and recuperating very well. We pray Almighty Allah that he recovers completely so that he’s able to continue with his very good work of ensuring that Nigeria lives in peace.”

The Senate President was accompanied on the trip from Abuja by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa who is currently representing Niger East Senatorial District at the Senate and Kogi State Senator Yakubu Oseni.
