  • Calls On Tebite To Contest House Of Assembly Position, Ughelli South Constituency

By John Oghojafor

A group comprising of PDP leaders and stakeholders in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, endorsing him for a second tenure in 2019 just as they moved a motion calling on a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly from the area, Hon. Taleb Tebite to recontest for the Lawmaking House in the 2019 election based on his previous excellent performances.

Addressing a capacity-filled Townhall rally in Okpare Olomu yesterday, March 31, 2018, the conveners of the rally, Mr. Sam Obamohwoeyeren, Chief Matthew Kwode, among other party leaders, showered encomium on the former member who represented the constituency for two terms, stressing that his records have remained unbeatable.

The group, which described their call as Project Taleb Tebite for 2019, expressed a feeling of nostalgia, recalling the excellent performances of the former lawmaker, whose legacies, according to them, were still very visible in the area years after he left the House of Assembly.

According to one of the front leader of the PDP group, Mr. Obamohwoeyeren, Hon. Tebite demonstrated very impressive and impactful representation during his tenure, adding that every indigene of Ughelli South from every part of the Local Government Area experienced the positive impact of his stewardship.

Said he: “Today’s meeting was convened to emphasize the call of the people of Ughelli South Local Government Area for Hon. Taleb Tebite to recontest to represent the people of Ughelli South in the Delta State House of Assembly, come 2019 because his performances whilst he was there were excellent.  We want him to come and rescue the party and the people of Ughelli South.”

Also speaking at the occasion, Chief Matthew Kwode noted that the essence of the rally was for the group to express their affirmation and a vote of confidence on Gov. Okowa for him to be voted for a second tenure in 2019 and for Hon. Tebite to recontest for the House of Assembly in 2019.

Hon. Taleb Tebite

Said he: “We are here today for an affirmation.  The affirmation is one, for His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, to be returned as Governor come 2019.  Two, there is this clamour call for Hon. Taleb Tebite to come and rerun for the Ughelli South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly.

“In his first and second tenures in the State House of Assembly, he performed excellently well.  His scorecard is unbeatable.  But today, it is like we don’t have any member representing us Ughelli South Constituency in the House of Assembly.  That is why you see that even the market women have joined the call for Hon. Tebite to return to the State House of Assembly to represent the good people of Ughelli South.

“We sent a powerful delegation of leaders of the party to meet with the former lawmaker, Hon. Tebite and we are very optimistic and confident he will heed the clarion call of the Ughelli South people to contest and represent us one more time.”

Highpoint of the ceremony was the passing of vote of confidence on the governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as well as the call for Hon. Taleb Tebite to contest the 2019 House of Assembly election for Ughelli South.  The motion was moved by Mr. Sam Obamohwoeyeren and was seconded by Chief Matthew Kwode and Chief John Oyiboerhe.
