A group of governors, (G5), demanding for the resignation of the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu have jetted out of Nigeria for their unending talks.

This follows the unresolved crisis between two PDP bigwigs: the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and Ayu alongside their lieutenants. The raging feud in the opposition party had been on the grounds that both the presidential candidate and the National Chairman of the party cannot come from the north at the same time.

The New Diplomat gathered that the group led by Wike and his counterparts Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State; Governor Ikpeazu Okezie of Abia State; left the country for Madrid, Friday night.

It was learnt Enugu Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, might join the team later.

It would be recalled that Governor Wike on Friday, during a live media chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, blasted Ayu over the N1billion and another N100million he collected without remitting it to the party’s account.

“Let Ayu say he did not collect N1 billion. In fact, let me also tell you, Ayu collected N100 million naira from a governor that he was going to renovate our democratic institution and then he (Ayu) went back to the PDP NWC and took the same N100 million naira for doing the same work.”

The Governor warned that if pushed to his limit, he would expose Ayu’s dirty deals and turn him to a subject of spurn before his children.

“If people know what we know, if we release what we have, Ayu’s children will go to him and say we are no longer your children.”

Reacting to Wike’s claim, Ayu denied collecting N1billion from anyone.

“I never collected any money as an individual, adding that monies also received on behalf of the party were duly remitted to the PDP treasury.”

Recall also some members of the National Working Committee, NWC, on September, got over N20million as surprised alert from the party without applying for any loan.

The party, however, in a statement stated that the money was meant for ‘Housing Allowance.’
