Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu has declared himself as gay. The Nollywood actor made this known via his Instagram page on Thursday, January 28, 2021, where he shared a post with a tag “Proudly Gay.”

He went on to caption the photo with a message where he wrote about his choices people make about their lives. This announcement is coming over a week afterĀ Doyin Okupe’s son’s Bolu revealed his status as gay which his father said he was aware of his son’s sexuality but never supported it.

Doyin Okupe made this known after his son, Bolu recently confirmed that he is gay via his Instagram handle. Doyin Okupe, a former presidential aide in his reaction emphasized that his son’s present gay status is spiritual.

The New Diplomat however reported thatĀ the Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Act, which banned gay relationships and other LGBTQ activities in Nigerian society was signed by Jonathan in January 2014. It’s interesting to note that Okupe had served in the Jonathan’s administration as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the President.

Homosexuality is illegal in most African countries. In several nations, gay people face life imprisonment or the death penalty.

Many religious groups brand it a corrupting western import which is at variance with African values, even as LGBTQ campaigners continue to penetrate Africa in various forms.
