An aircraft belonging to the Nigerian military has reportedly crashed in Kaduna State in less than two months after a similar incident in the state claimed the life of immediate past Army Chief, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru.

According to reports, the aircraft identified to be an Alpha Jet crashed in the northwest state on Sunday.

However, the incident remains sketchy as of press time as relevant authorities in the Nigerian Military have not reacted.

But a source reportedly said: “The fighter jet left Yola, the Adamawa capital, this morning to go clear bandits.”

Checks by The New Diplomat reveal that the military has recorded several crashes 2021 alone.

On February 21, an Air Force aircraft, a Beechcraft KingAir B350i crashed after reporting engine failure on its way to Minna, Niger State.

On March 31, 2021, the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) declared that one of its Air fighter jets, an Alpha-Jet went missing.

According to NAF, the Alpha-Jet lost contact with radar in Borno state, while on interdiction mission to support ground troops.

Also, a military plane belonging to the NAF crashed around the Kaduna International Airport.

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, including 11 top military chiefs lost their lives in the ill-fated plane.
