Parents of the abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on Tuesday, stormed the National Assembly complex, Abuja, demanding the immediate release of their children.

The parents, accompanied by some members of the Institution’s Students Union Government (SUG) decried the alleged negligence of the Kaduna Government and Federal Government in securing the release of the children, after 55 days in captivity.

While pressing home their demands, the parents and the students representatives displayed various placards which reads, “Education is our right! Safety is our right! Freedom is our right!, Free Afaka 29!”

They chanted songs of solidarity as they marched to the National Assembly, to demand the immediate release of the abducted students.

The New Diplomat had reported that armed bandits invaded the Federal college of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, on March 11, at around 11:30 pm, abducting over 39 students of the school.

The college is located on the outskirts of Kaduna city near the Nigerian defense academy military barracks.

Recall also that the Kaduna State Government had in two batches– five each, announced the release of 10 abducted students.

However, the whereabout of the remaining 29 students is still unknown as of press time.
