In a move aimed at alleviating the impact of rising transportation costs for civil servants in Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke on Tuesday, announced a reduction in workdays and an extension of palliative payments to government workers.

The governor’s decision was communicated in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday.

The statement detailed that civil servants in grades 01-10 will now work three days a week, while those in grades 12-17 will work four days.

According to Rasheed, the development is part of the governor’s ongoing commitment to workers’ welfare in the face of Nigeria’s economic challenges.

However, essential workers such as medical personnel and security officers are excluded from this arrangement.

The statement reads in part: “In response to high transportation costs, Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved re-scheduled working days for various categories of civil servants and an extension of payment of palliatives for public servants for the next two months.

“The working day schedules for Public Servants in the State have been approved as follows: Public Servants on GL.01 to GL.10 – Three days a week, Public Servants on GL12 to GL.17 – Four days a week. This arrangement excludes essential workers, including medical personnel, security officers, and political office holders.”
