The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has endorsed the protest against police brutality just as he restates his call for a restructuring of Nigeria as a measure for ensuring national stability and unity.

Pastor Adeboye, popularly called Daddy GO among his Church members and admirers endorsed the protest against police brutality on Wednesday night, while reiterating that the country may face more crisis unless its political, economic and socio-cultural framework are restructured to fit into patterns or models of federalism as practiced universally.

In a surprising  tweet on Wednesday night,  Enoch Adeboye, aka Daddy GO  said: “Our daughters will not be able to prophesy and young men will not see visions if we don’t keep them alive. I support the youths in this peaceful protest as they “speak up” to #EndPoliceBrutality!#EndSARS #ENDSWAT.”Enoch Adeboye

Recall that for about one week running, youths  drawn from various geo-political zones of Nigeria have been up in arms in the streets protesting against what they refer to as brutality by police operatives and functionaries  who go under the name SARS.

In response, the Federal government disbanded SAR as announced by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu. In a related development, Adeboye restated his call for the restructuring of the country.

In a post sighted on his Instagram page on Tuesday night, the  General Overseer of RCCG  said the situation in the country should make it necessary on the part of the authorities  to consider the idea of restructuring Nigeria.

He said: “Without any doubt, we must restructure and do it as soon as possible. A United States of Nigeria is likely to survive than our present structure; this will help across every strata from the police force, military, customs, civil service as a whole.

“Without any doubt the present system has just made things difficult for Nigerians, young and old and I’m glad to see the new era that we are entering.

“It is either Nigeria is restructured or we break up. I believe that we might want to look at the problems of Nigeria in a slightly different manner. Some people feel that all our problems will be over if Nigeria should break up.

“I think that is trying to solve the problems of Nigeria as if it is a Simple Equation. The problems of Nigeria will require quite a bit of Simultaneous Equation and some of them are not going to be Linear either – forgive me I am talking as a Mathematician.

“Why can’t we have a system of government that will create what I will call the United States of Nigeria? Let me explain. We all know that we must restructure. It is either we restructure or we break, you don’t have to be a prophet to know that one. That is certain – restructure or we break up. Now, we don’t want to break up, God forbid. As we continue to pray and take actions, Let somebody shout hallelujah!’’

Recall that Enoch Adeboye had  canvassed  this position a fortnight ago. However, he  and other proponents of restructuring were strongly rebuked by the presidency. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu in a statement voiced the presidency’s opposition to the idea of restructuring.
