• Says ADC, a child of necessity

By Obinna Uballa

National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and two-times Senate President, Senator David Mark, has described the party as “a child of necessity” created from a genuine desire to provide Nigerians with better governance.

Speaking in Abuja at a meeting with ADC candidates ahead of Saturday’s bye-elections, Mark urged Nigerians to give the party a chance to prove itself at the polls.

“The ADC was born out of the genuine desire to offer Nigerians an alternative and better governance. Give the party an opportunity to prove its worth,” he said.

Mark , also a former Minister of Communications, appealed to voters in Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kano, Niger, and Ogun States to back ADC candidates, assuring them of the party’s commitment to delivering on its promises.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure the elections are free, fair, and credible, stressing that the Commission’s performance will be crucial in rebuilding public confidence.

“All eyes are on INEC to correct past errors that have tarnished its image. A transparent election on Saturday could help redeem its reputation,” he noted.

The ADC leader commended the courage of the party’s candidates, urging them and their supporters to obey electoral laws while remaining vigilant against manipulation or intimidation.

Mark further called on security agencies to guarantee a level playing field for all parties so that the will of the people can prevail without interference.
