The absence of the Federal Government on Tuesday stalled the court case involving the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

The High Court of Abia State on Tuesday adjourned the hearing following no response from the Federal government, alongside five other respondents in the suit before the court.

Recall that Kanu’s legal counsel, Mr. Aloy Ejimakor, had filed an application against the Federal Government over the extradition of his principal.

The suit which is marked no HIH/FR14/2021 is seeking the payment of N5 billion from the Federal Government over alleged gross violation of his fundamental rights.

Joined in the case as respondents are Attorney General of the Federation (2nd), Chief of Army Staff (3rd), Inspector General of Police (5th), Director General, State Security Services (7th) and three others.

Meanwhile, during court’s hearing on Tuesday, the Federal Government, IGP, Chief of Army Staff and others failed to file their responses to the suit before the court.

Following the development, the judge, Justice K. C. J. Okereke, adjourned hearing till October 7.
