Amid outcry of deprivations of Democratic dividends, purportedly orchestrated for self aggrandizement by the the incumbent Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, the Abia state Governor Elect, Alex Otti has begun to reverse the ugly trend.

The Abia League of Professionals Initiative (ALPI) which made this observation in a release by its Director-General, Sonny Iroche, disclosed that the Governor Elect has initiated move that would extricate the State from the perpetual poverty it was plunged in by the outgoing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government.

The group assured that the recent visits by some echelons of Bluechip companies as MTN and Julius Berger to the Governor Elect remain a testament of his preparedness to sail the economic sinking boat to prosperity.

Iroche said such moves by Otti would create hope for the already impoverished Abians and engender confidence that the organized private sector reposes.

The group stated that Dr. Otti has demonstrated the capacity to translate his electoral promises into attracting companies that would create employment and services to the people of Abia.
Iroche said that the Governor Elect has shown that he is focused and imbued with the right frame of mind to salvage the state from what he described as the “locusts and kleptocracy by the previous governments that superintended over the affairs of the Abia people.

While alerting the people that the journey to restore the lost of the state would not be an easy route, the group advised the people to brace up for the challenges ahead as those responsible for perpetuating poverty in the land would fight back.

He, however, stated that the people should not hesitate to criticize the Governor Elect if he derails.

It would be recalled that at his post election speech, the Governor Elect who decried the high level of maladministration by the outgoing government, promised to tackle the problems of dearth of infrastructure, unpaid salaries of civil servants and pensioners head on.
