Two students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State who were abducted last Saturday, have been released.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director, Information, Protocol and Public Relations IPPR) of the University, Mrs. Rosemary Waku.

According to her, the students returned to campus on Tuesday.

The students were abducted by armed men while studying in one of the halls inside the university.

However, Waku, on Wednesday identified the released students as Israel Farren Kwaghgee and Solomon Salihu.

“The students of FUAM that were kidnapped have been released.

“The two students, Israel Farren Kwaghgee and Solomon Salifu, came back to campus yesterday (27/4/21),” she said, adding that the released students were currently undergoing medical attention.

She, however did not disclose if any ransom was paid before the students were released.

Also, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the release of the students.

Anene, on Monday, had stated that three students were abducted from the university. However, while confirming the release of the abducted students, she did not mention the number of students freed.

She, however, noted that investigation into the incident was still ongoing.
