Authorities of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma (AAU), Edo State have suspended some principal officers in the College of Medicine.

Worried by the seeming inaction of the authorities of the school to cause a thorough investigation into alleged illegal and manipulated promotions of the institution’s Provost of College of Medicine, Prof. G.B.S. Iyalomhe, almost six months after his petition was received, Dr. Ujaddughe had written another memorandum to the university, expressing concern over the development.

A statement by the Administrative Officer, Mr. L. I. Isiraojie explained that the action is based on the directive of the institution’s Special Intervention Team (S.I.T).

Isiraojie listed the affected officers as the Provost, College of Medicine, the Acting Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences and the Head of Department of Nursing from their offices.

He said that the suspension is sequel to several petitions received from staff and students of the college over allegations of abuse of office and financial impropriety levied against them.

He added that the suspension of the officers from office is to enable the management of the school carry out a detailed and unbiased investigation into the allegations.

In the Interim, Isiraojie added that the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Marshall A. Azeke shall oversee the affairs of the College of Medicine pending the conclusion of investigation.
