The Federal High Court sitting Lagos State on Thursday adjourned proceedings on a lawsuit filed by Adeolu Adeboye, son of Redeemed Christian Church of God’s General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and Kaduna State Government (KADSG).

At Thursday’s proceedings, Adeolu and Ronchess Global Resources Plc were represented by Adegboruwa (SAN), while Sule Shuaibu (SAN), the Attorney-General of Kaduna State, represented the state, respectively.

Addressing the court, Adegboruwa filed a motion to join the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission (ICPC) and the State Security Service (SSS) as Respondents in the case.

He told the court that his client received another invitation from ICPC notwithstanding the subsisting court order, which necessitated the need to join ICPC in the suit since it was on the same subject matter.

Consequent upon this, the Applicants filed their Amended Originating Motion to reflect the joinder of the new parties.

However, Onwuewuno, who represented EFCC informed the court that although they had received the Amended Originating Motion, he did not know that the order to join ICPC and SSS had already been made. He then promised to file his amended processes to reflect the parties that have been joined.

Following the debate, the presiding judge, Justice A.O. Owoeye adjourned proceedings to October 11, 2024, for hearing.

It would be recalled that the saga began after Adeolu was accused of receiving over N8 billion from the Kaduna State Government for a contract but allegedly abandoned the project after 30% completion.

The pastor’s son was alleged to have secured the contract through Ronchess Global Resources Plc during former Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s administration.

Subsequently, Adeolu reportedly filed a suit marked FHC/L/CS/1208/2024, seeking an injunction restraining the EFCC, Kaduna State Government, and the House of Assembly from arresting or detaining Adeolu over an alleged abandoned N8 billion project.
